Cleaning my mechanical keyboard

My son is using one of my mechanical keyboard and it has been beat up too much by snacking during gaming and watching YouTube video. So, it is time to clean up. I’ve been looking for the right time to do it and finally did it.

Key Cap Removal

First of all, I removed all key caps as below and I laid them as their layout on the keyboard. It made a reassemble job after cleaning so easy. You can use key cap pinch tool can be seen from the picture. Your finger should be enough for that job

Switch Removal

Now, my keyboard shows all the switches. You can remove them with switch removal pinch looks like above. The pinch above is actually switch removal pinch not key cap one.

Real Cleaning

After removing most of switches, The body of keyboard is cleaned with whatever you choose to.

Switches inserted back.

And Keyboard looks new. I wrapped this keyboard with kitchen wrap this time to protect underneath of keys from crumbs. Let’s see how it goes.
