It is rather surprise and historic moment to see Brompton manufacturing non 16 inch foldable bicycle. It has been over 50 years for this British foldable urban bicycle manufacturer to build only 16 inch bicycle. So, what changed for them.

The king of 20 inch urban bicycle is Tern Bikes. There was another player in 20 inch foldable bicycle market as named Dahon. However, Tern Bikes is the best and most enthusiastic about 20 inch territory. Moreover, Tern Bikes are extending their market to electric cargo bikes. Since 20 inch form factor has room to grow while keeping its small from factor. Tern Bikes glanced this ledge market and pushing very hard.

It seems to be agreed for an urban bike is not fine to be only a commuter. It requires more than commuting. Tern Bikes is asking its user to replace their car with their electric cargo bikes. It is very bald statements and we will see how it unfolds. They also justify their expensive bikes with this idea.

Regarding all of changes in urban biking, it is very smart move for Brompton to join 20 inch market. I think, G stands for Gravel even none of their PRs said, but my hunch told me so. G Line will come in 2025 and we will see how it will prevail or not.

I personally do not own any of Brompton nor Tern Bikes. They are just my dream bikes since I believe that they have the best form factor for urban biking. I just wish their visions come true to see a lot of 20 inch bikes on the urban road, mixed in harmony with motorists to share and inherit healthy planet Earth to our defendants.
