LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability) is defined as below by IMSglobal formally known as 1EdTech.
1EdTech’s LTI standard is a technical standard (not a product) used to connect learning tools with an institution’s learning environment without logging into each tool. LTI supports a high level of security for passing data about the users, their institutional enrollment, and roles.
It is really convenient to integrate and to use EdTechs complied with LTI. Otherwise, you need to code with 3rd party API’s to make them work. Once the tool is pre configured, it can be added to any courses and modules.
- To get to the point, navigate to Site administration -> Plugins -> External tool -> Manage tools. Then, click Add LTI Advantage button.

2. You will need Tool URL, Public Keyset, Initiate login URL and Redirection URI(s) from LTI tool provider. Since we are creating Crowdmark tool, Crowdmark has provided us those information.

3. To complete configuration, you also need some information to LIT tool provider. First click left most icon in your tool.

4. Provide Platform ID, Client ID and Deployment ID from dialog box. Platform ID is the URL of your Moodle site.

5. Once it is configured from LTI service provider. It will work from your course shell when “Add an activity or resource” clicked.

For this example, student list can be imported from Moodle to Crowdmark. Grades will be exported from Crowdmark to your course in Moodle.
The screenshot below shows how it integrated into Crowdmark.
